Membership animals are basically the animals that you get noted for having.
First, a leader of one of the animal groups (packs, herds) will have to accept you. The first one to accept your application gets to add you to their pack or herd. If none accept you, or you wish to be a loner, then alert staff (and if it's your choice, say so in the application) and we'll accept it for you.
You get a new avatar with the species name upon being accepted. Your name is added to the list of that animal. Once you're a membership animal, we monitor that character's breeding. Unlike other animals, the pack leader (or a high ranking staff member, for loners) must approve the couple before the chooser can step in.
T. Rexes are closely monitored as well. Only the dream owner can approve T. Rex applications.
